Expanding its range of healthcare services, Izmir City Hospital has started polysomnography (sleep test) recordings for pediatric patients within its Sleep Disorders Monitoring Center. The center, which has successfully served adult patients to date, has improved its infrastructure to include diagnosis and treatment processes regarding children's sleep health.
Comprehensive and Simultaneous Monitoring
Polysomnography stands out as an advanced electrophysiological examination method that enables the simultaneous and continuous recording of neurophysiological, cardiorespiratory, and other physical parameters over a certain period during sleep.
At the center, pediatric patients with complaints of sleep-related breathing and movement disorders, parasomnias, nocturnal seizures, and unexplained daytime sleepiness are meticulously evaluated. The data obtained from these tests, which have great diagnostic importance especially for patients with muscle diseases and children with neurodevelopmental delays, are analyzed by Pediatric Neurology and Pediatric Pulmonology specialists experienced in sleep medicine to plan treatment processes.
With this newly established service unit, Izmir City Hospital continues to respond to an important need in the field of pediatric sleep health for both Izmir and the region at high standards.
