İzmir City Hospital, the fourth largest hospital in Turkey, is equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices, modern operating rooms, comfortable patient rooms, and a specialized team. Over the last three months, the hospital has provided services to 119 patients from 39 different countries as part of health tourism and tourist health initiatives.
Most recently, Aleksandra Kosenko, a 46-year-old Russian citizen, chose İzmir City Hospital's Orthopedics Clinic after being recommended for a hip prosthesis due to hip pain. Orthopedics Specialist Dr. İlker Şenses diagnosed Kosenko with avascular necrosis of the hip, a condition where bone tissue weakens due to insufficient blood flow, and applied stem cell therapy instead of a hip prosthesis. After a half-hour closed procedure under anesthesia in the operating room, Kosenko was discharged the next day in good health.
Kosenko stated that she chose İzmir City Hospital because of the positive reviews and advanced technology she had heard about, saying, "I came from Russia and heard very good things about the hospital. I chose this place because of its advanced technology. I am very satisfied. My doctor and the staff were very attentive, and the service was excellent. I will recommend it to everyone in Russia."
Orthopedics Specialist Dr. İlker Şenses said, "Our patient, who is also a doctor, came from Russia on the recommendation of her sister, who works as a doctor in Turkey. She had been diagnosed in her own country and was recommended for a hip prosthesis. After our examinations in our clinic, we diagnosed her with early-stage avascular necrosis of the hip and decided to apply stem cell therapy to save the hip joint. Our patient, who regained her health, was discharged the next day.
